The predawn raid on Wednesday came just after Palestinians barricaded by themselves inside of a mosque there. The violence led into the accidents of at the least 37 Palestinians and two Israeli officers and the arrests of hundreds of Palestinians, and established off a brief exchange of rocket fireplace from Gaza and retaliatory Israeli airstrikes.
